Top CIA analyst cause of Russiagate losing her work

(MENAFN) One of the CIA’s leading Russia specialists has been removed from her post as part of former President Donald Trump’s effort to strip politics out of US intelligence, The Economist reported Thursday.

The unnamed officer, described as Washington’s top analyst on Russia and Eurasia, was responsible for drafting an assessment that accused Moscow of interfering in the 2016 election to support Trump. Her security clearance was revoked on August 19, along with those of 36 other current and former officials.

The Kremlin has repeatedly denied meddling claims, while Trump and Republicans insist the allegations were a “hoax” orchestrated by Barack Obama’s administration and Democrats to discredit Trump’s victory and weaken his presidency.

Since mid-July, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has released declassified documents, saying they reveal how senior Obama-era officials conspired to fabricate the Russia-collusion narrative. Earlier this week, Gabbard announced the Office of the Director of National Intelligence will be cut nearly in half, citing widespread politicization, leaks, and misuse of intelligence.

She also revealed plans to scale back the Foreign Malign Influence Center (FMIC), established after Russiagate, removing several of its key functions.
